Thoughts on a Fire

I imagine some people died before they could blink, but there are no dental records for ashes, and people are mistaken for houses. Then we discover that the ashes are a question, how are we the lucky ones? And we identify the bodies by "not us."

Rummaging through the piles in hopes we find the remains, the only thing left is memories, which the next day smelled like soot and condensation, suffocating and drowning us all at once. Maybe in a few months, our houses will be erect, and our ancestors will forgive the heirlooms, but most importantly, we will be fire hazards again...
